The mission of The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio is to empower independence and enrich the lives of people who are blind or visually impaired.
Who We Are
The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio empowers people of all ages to work, learn, play, and live independently with permanent vision loss. Founded in 1923 as the Toledo Society for the Blind, we are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) serving individuals and families across a 34-county region in Northwest Ohio, Southeast Michigan, and Central Ohio.
What We Do
Through a unique blend of programs and services, we provide life-changing support that meets each person where they are:
- Low Vision Clinic services to maximize remaining sight
- Home safety adaptations that reduce risk and increase confidence
- White cane and mobility instruction for safe, independent travel
- Support and education for caregivers and families
- Training in everyday skills like cooking, organizing, and self-care
- High-tech assistive devices that reconnect people to work and daily life
These services are critical, but often not covered by insurance.
